h Proven Pat a e ontinuing in C Kathy Ston eve & By Ken Catoe ucing J. St Introd As he assumes the responsibilities of President and General Director of BIMI, Dr. David Snyder vacates the post of Far North Director. This position will be ably filled by veteran Far North missionary J. Steve Stone. Brother Stone, a graduate of Tabernacle Baptist Bible College, has served with BIMI since 1981. He and his wife, Kathy, are well acquainted with the hardships, disappointments and victories that are a part of missionary life in the fields BIMI designates as the Far North. This experience will serve them well as they labor to recruit, train and encourage church planting missionaries in Canada, Alaska and Greenland. The Stones successfully planted a church in Plympton, Nova Scotia. Calvary Baptist Church was originally turned over to Canadian leadership in 1994. Eight hard years of ministry in the mining town of Labrador City, Newfoundland, led to the organization of Northern Light Baptist Church. The Stones left this church in Canadian leadership in 2003. The young church was devastated by the transfer of workers to other areas and did not survive when its leadership was transferred out of country. Calvary Baptist Church had suffered due to false doctrine and a divisive spirit. Steve and Kathy returned to Nova Scotia in September of 2003 to help this church get back on its feet. The church has steadily grown. A new auditorium has been built and the church is completely debt free. It is anticipated that a full time pastor will be called in the near future. The Stones will remain in Nova Scotia until this time. Brother Stone has the following vision: - To see men in the Far North surrender to preach the Gospel. - To see these men trained to assume the leadership in churches started by church planters. - To see established churches help start new churches. - To see the team concept of missions put into practice where feasible. - To see church planters, who will sacrifice and serve faithfully, called to Alaska, Canada and Greenland. - To work closely with new church plants and help place national pastoral leadership in these churches. - To preach missions conferences and promote faith promise giving. He states that Dr. Snyder has done a great job as Far North Director. His plan is to follow in that proven path of leadership. The Stones have three grown children who now reside in South Carolina. The Lord has blessed them with four grandchildren. Steve and Kathy plan to relocate to Chattanooga. 6 Please pray for the Stones as they work through the details involved in this transition.
