Distinguished Missionary Award
Established in 2003, the Distinguished Missionary Award recognizes one missionary couple (or individual) per year who makes a significant contribution to the worldwide ministry of BIMI. To be considered for the award, the missionary must have at least 15 years of exemplary service with BIMI.
On June 27, 2003,Gerry and Diane Baughman became the first recipients of the Distinguished Missionary Award. The Baughmans served as church planters for several years in Canada before launching CAMP BIMI and SMART trips in 1992. These two unique ministries are dedicated to helping Christian young people explore the realities of missionary life. To date, CAMP BIMI has had 511 first-time students attend. 74% of those are either on the mission field or preparing for full-time Christian service. For their decades of tireless service and impact upon the lives of future generations of missionaries, Gerry and Diane Baughman are the worthy recipients of this distinguished award.
On August 3, 2004, Don and Bridgett Dryden were the recipients of the Distinguished Missionary Award. The Drydens have been prolific church planters in Haiti for more than 30 years. Scores of national pastors have been trained in the Bible school founded by Brother Don, in addition to those trained in remote villages by extension studies. For three decades of faithful service in one of the world’s poorest countries, Don and Bridgett Dryden are living examples of the caliber of missionary servants held in high esteem by their peers at BIMI.
