You Saved Her Life
by Daniel Arce

It was 4:30 p.m. when I got a call from Mrs. Berta (she's one of our church members). She was crying uncontrollably and asking me to hurry over to Nancy's house. I knew what all of this meant.

It took me about 20 minutes to get to her house. As soon as I got there, I dashed into her room and was surprised to see Nancy's husband and her 9-year-old daughter, both kneeling at Nancy's bedside. They were singing...I joined in. After that, brother Chico started to pray. It went on like that for another 15-20 minutes.

At the end of it all, I was so touched as I saw Raquelita lean her head on her mother's chest and said ever so softly, "I'm gonna miss you so much, mom." Tears started to roll down her cheeks as her mother's hands ran through her hair for the last time.

It was then that Brother Chico knelt by his wife's side, held her hands, raised his eyes towards heaven and prayed: "Dear God, I cannot thank you enough for the 24 years you let me live with "Nancita"...she was the best. Besides you, Lord, no one has ever loved and cared and helped me so much as she has. But Lord, just as you gave her to me on a very special day, I now give her back to you on this very special day. Please take care of her (which I know you will) and don't let her forget me or Raquelita."

He then turned to me and said, "Pastor Daniel, thank you for coming 10 years ago and talking to us about Jesus, if not for you, I would not have the hope of seeing my wife again."
