Dr. John Bailes and his wife, Sandy, have been with Baptist International Missions, Inc. (BIMI), since 1977. Dr. Bailes served as the BIMI USA Director for 26 years before becoming the National Reseeding America Representative in June 2013.
Brother Bailes was saved in Memphis, Tennessee, while serving 12 years in the United States Navy. He attended Tennessee Temple Bible School and graduated in 1970. Brother Bailes has been in the ministry since 1968. In his early ministry, he had the privilege of serving on staff at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, under the leadership of Dr. Lee Roberson and Dr. J. R. Faulkner. During that time, he was instrumental in starting 28 branch churches in an 80-mile radius of that city while serving as the Director of the Branch Church Ministry. Before resigning that position, he had the oversight of 76 branch churches.
Brother Bailes continues to serve the USA missionaries by assisting them in obtaining support and planting churches. He has assisted USA missionaries and others in planting over 300 churches. He planted and was the pastor of five churches prior to joining BIMI. He also serves local churches by conducting mission conferences and church planting seminars. His wife, Sandy, has also been used as a speaker to ladies’ groups concerning missions and sharing her experience as a church planter's wife.
