We were young missionaries, having arrived in Pontypool in the 1960's. TV's were all in black and white, and on our little set we received the BBC1 and ITV because we paid the annual television license to enjoy that privilege. At that time Tom Jones, the Welsh pop singer from Pontypridd, was well known in the valleys before he headed to Hollywood to become an international star.

Behind our little house a steep road led up to a fairly large housing estate known as Trevethan. Its reputation was locally known as a community with many social problems, so it became our target for evangelistic outreach that summer. I rented a tent and set it in a farmer's field next to the housing estate. A group of three or four young men from Bob Jones University agreed to be our featured musical group, song leader, and Gospel workers for the week. I was the preacher. My wife played the piano.

The week's activities went very quickly. Two things in particular I will never forget. First, each night about ten o'clock a group of young men in their twenties stopped by the tent, on their way home from the pubs, to meet our Gospel workers from BJU. "The Nicodemus lads" (as we called them) would stop long enough to hear the story of salvation and faith in Christ. They always came by night, never for the normal service but after the pubs were closed. Each night they came and they heard the Gospel.

The second thing I remember about the Trevethan Tent Campaign was a group of teenagers who came by bus all week to each service from another Welsh mining town. I believe they all got saved that week.

At the close of the tent campaign these young people expressed interest in further Bible study and opportunities to witness. Their enthusiasm was very encouraging, but the question of how to direct their passion to witness was a godsend. This question led me to develop a simple plan for the young people who I would train to go door-to-door to present the Gospel message.

You will notice from the Bible Survey below that two people stand together: the Questioner who does all the talking and the Response Taker who records the responses circling "yes" or "no."

BIBLE SURVEY - (The questioner):
1. Do you have a Bible in your home? yes or no
2. Do you read it often or seldom? yes or no
3. Have you found the KEY to why the Bible was written? yes or no

JOHN 20:31 says, "But these (words of the Bible) are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that believing ye might have life through his name."

Now, let me ask:
4. Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? yes or no
5. Do you have eternal life? yes or no
6. (If no) Would you like to know?
7. (If yes) How do you know?
8. May I share with you how you can be certain that when you die, you can go to Heaven?
a. All are sinners - Romans 3:23.
b. Christ died for sinners Romans 5:8c. Faith in Christ alone is the way to salvation John 3:16;
c. Call upon the Lord to be saved. Romans 10:9-13

At the close of the conversation, a New Testament, a simple correspondence course, or appropriate Gospel tract were given. The team decided the possibility of a return visit. To use a familiar British expression when something like this goes well, the young people felt this easy and practical approach was "a smashing success."

In Wales today there are Bible preaching churches. On the other hand, there are many towns where there is little proclamation of truth. There are some wonderful opportunities to start new churches in Wales and also openings to revive churches. Why did God privilege Wales with revival fires of the 18th and 19th centuries? Why did God use Evan Roberts to drawn down the fire in 1903-04? And could God not do this again in our own day? Man of God, I challenge you who are called to preach to go and preach in Wales.

Hello! I am Alina. I have a great desire to share with you how God has changed my life. Nine years ago, I became ill with a spinal disease. I cannot walk and after an operation, during which there were complications, I became paralyzed. Many doctors have tried to heal me, but no one knows how to help me. I live with my mother and my sister. My father left us, and he lives in Russia. During the beginning stages of my illness, my mother was unable to work because she had to be with me and my little sister. We lived with my grandmother and my grandfather and the three of us lived on their pension.

There were times when it was very difficult on us and I asked myself, "What are we guilty of?" I thought that God was punishing us. There were people who wanted to help, but when they came to understand that their efforts were in vain, they stopped coming. All of my friends, with time, also left and forgot me.

My life changed when God brought a Christian sister into our home - Natasha Nikitina. Natasha introduced us to Missionary Bob Van Sant, and he shared with me about the Savior. On the 31st of August 2004, I was saved!

When I received the Lord as my Savior, my life changed. I finally understood that, even before salvation, God had not forsaken us. He had placed family members around me who were always willing to help. Everything that our family suffered was not punishment, but rather a test which was given to us so that we would draw nigh to the Lord and grow in our faith. Now, I understand that the Lord is with me and He protects me and my family.

I am thankful to God that He saved my family and that we are able to be involved in church. There are so many people who pray for me, help me, and come to visit me in my home. I have received many letters through the church from many cities and countries. I am very happy that I now have friends who sincerely love me and fellowship with me.

Every day I praise God for the faith that He has given us. There are new medicines that may be able to help me. I believe that, with God's help, I can one day stand and our lives will be easier, and I can begin attending church.

I want to say thank you for the opportunity to praise the name of the Lord. I hope that my testimony will help you realize that THE ALMIGHTY helps us in everything, and that "all things work together for good." The most important thing is to pray and believe in Him.

Bob and Judy Van Sant are missionaries in Simferopol, Ukraine. Alina (now sixteen years old) and her family have come to the Lord through their ministry.

"Alina was able to be in our services on Easter Sunday. So that she could come, her uncle fixed his car by removing some of the seats. Alina was so thrilled to be in church on that day that she almost squealed with excitement. She hardly ever leaves her home and any outing is appreciated. Alina's mother, aunt, uncle, cousin, and sister are saved because of Alina and they are faithful to church. Alina is a precious young lady who always has a smile on her face. She never complains and says in Heaven her body will be perfect. Here is her testimony..."

Jack and Dot Moorman

Forty-two years as BIMI Missionaries

Forty-two years on the mission field is all to the glory of God Who "is able," Who is "that blessed hope," and Who continues to "do it."

Called as a young married couple to Johannesburg, South Africa, we arrived there in August 1968 after less than one year of deputation. We walked off the plane at Jan Smuts Airport with two babies (aged 2 and 2 months), not knowing anyone in the country nor having anywhere to go. That began our pilgrimage with the Lord - our Guide, our Provider and our Strength.

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly" - In Johannesburg, God allowed us to start our first church. After four years, we were able to leave a good congregation and a large Sunday School with their own building that was completely debt free.

After a three-month furlough, we then went to England for the next two years. Again, we set out knowing no one. Jack spent one month in London "spying out the land," and God "that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think..." opened the door and we were invited to temporarily pastor a church in Shropshire. This opening proved very important to our further work in England at a later date.

In 1975, after much prayer, God led us back to South Africa where we worked for thirteen more years. In that time we established our main church and a Bible college. From these ministries, we helped to start five other churches in key areas in and around Johannesburg.

But the call of England was never far away and in 1988 we returned. Three of our five children were in the States and the two youngest with us. We once again lived in Shropshire and filled in for another missionary in Staffordshire. Prices in England were astronomical compared to South Africa. What to do? Pray and trust God "that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think..." Isaiah 1:19 also gave us assurance: "If ye be willing and obedient ye shall eat the good of the land." We took this to mean exactly what it said: He would supply our needs and bless in the ministry.

After a furlough, in 1991, we returned to Oxfordshire, England, where a small military church needed a pastor. This was a miracle! They called us because someone heard Jack preach on the radio in America. That person brought a tape of his message to the church when she came to visit her children there......"now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think."

The military drew down, our children were all in the States, and the call of the great metropolis (it had always been there) came even greater. How to live and work in London? Again we knew no one but moved to the northwest side of London so we could still go back and help the few remaining military in Oxfordshire.

The great part of our ministry has been a tract ministry - going to the masses in Johannesburg and, even though living in more rural areas in the U.K., travelling daily to the cities.

Jack has been in over 300 cities and towns in England and virtually all the major cities as far north as New Castle-Upon-Tyne, getting out the Word of God. Over the past 35 years, several million copies of the tract Perhaps Today have been given out, along with many other tracts.

It was while giving out Perhaps Today in Wimbledon on a freezing cold day in February 1994 that the door opened for us at Bethel Baptist Church. From our church base here, the Word of God goes out almost daily in one of over 40 areas of London. We also have gone a number of times to France and more recently have made several trips to Spain. Our church in Wimbledon, London, ministers to many nationalities; we are an international church.

The Lord is coming, the time is short, and we want to be faithful.

...and Running Marathons on the Deputation Trail to England

By Gina Stanley

(Harry and Gina Stanley and their children are serving in England as BIMI missionaries)

When the Lord called us into missions during our conference at the church my husband pastored in Tennessee, I wondered how different deputation would be after the very busy life we had experienced as a pastor's family. As we were beginning our deputation journey, my husband asked me what I hoped to accomplish during our time on the road. At first I thought he was joking, but he seemed to be serious. I calmly assured him that one goal I was thinking of was "SURVIVAL!" Our children had always been in Christian schools and so deputation was my introduction into homeschooling.

In the past I had taught in a Christian college and high school, but until deputation I had never had the rare privilege of teaching four precious children in hotel rooms, vans, basements, and in a moving RV. Homeschooling while traveling on deputation has taught the children and me great flexibility. We have grown very close and have shared many meaningful experiences as we have seen in person the places that they had just studied about in some of their textbooks.

On deputation, our children were a vital part of our ministry. Our girls helped us by playing violin duets in the meetings. The children also decided that they would be the self-appointed "mission's table set-up and take-down group," with their all-time best record at 4 1/2 minutes to completely set up the table with everything on it. Our two younger children (ages 9 and 10) faithfully passed out individually wrapped English tea bags with our prayer cards as people walked in the church doors. These "jobs" made deputation something that we all were very actively involved in and I thank the Lord for the opportunities we had to serve as a family during this time.

As we are now settling into our ministry in England, it has been encouraging to look back and see that the goals my husband set for our family and himself made deputation a very profitable time. He said that we would look for every soul-winning opportunity that we could so that our work of evangelism would not be "on pause" during deputation. The Lord has been so kind. In our year and a half on the "deputation trail," we had the privilege of seeing 37 souls come to Christ.

Two other goals that my husband set for himself was starting and finishing his class work for a Doctorate of Ministry in Missions (this has just been completed) and continuing to run marathons during our deputation time. Deputation schedules usually are not very conducive to exercise of any type. Yet, by God's grace and a lot of running in the early morning hours down some country road or late evening runs in residential neighborhoods across America, my husband completed five "deputation marathons." Considering the fact that a marathon is 26.2 miles and he ran them in states where we were having meetings, I found this to be quite admirable. Aside from being in some of the best churches across America and making wonderful prayer partners, deputation was a time to set and reach many goals as a family. This experience will help us as we serve together where God has planted us - England.

Is evolution true?

(Editor's note: Nancy presented this in her Hungarian Public High School. She has translated it into English for us. What an opportunity for Nancy to witness of her Christian faith!)

By Nancy Patton, BIMI missionary kid in Hungary

(Resource: Death Trap by Sigmund Brouwer)

Evolution is a sequence of changes, by which the traits of certain species are modified over the course of time. The traits and characteristics of an organism are determined by its genes, which in the process of reproduction are passed on to the next generation. During this process tiny, unplanned changes can take place, which alter the offspring's genetic material. This is called mutation. The process of natural selection is driven by an organism's ability to adapt to its environment. According to the theory of evolution, natural selection will preserve the positive mutations and weed out the negative genetic traits. Given enough time it is capable of producing new species.

The person who brought the theory of evolution to life is Charles Darwin. He was born on February 12th, 1809. Even as a child he was an eager naturalist. Mostly he was interested in bugs, but he also had a large rock collection. In 1831, he was able to go on a scientific trip around the world. During the trip, he arrived on the Galapagos-islands, where he found, that a lot of animal species (particularly birds) had quite different features from their continental counterparts. It seemed to him that they had adapted to their unique environment. In 1859 he wrote The Origin of Species. By the influence of Charles Darwin, the evolutional theory has become a part of our everyday life.

The evolutional theory states that the world came to life by accident and after billions of years became the World we live in now. But let's look at a few astonishing facts:

The size of Earth is perfect. Bigger planets, like Venus have too many volcanoes that let out so much carbon dioxide, that because of the greenhouse effect their temperature can rise to 450°C. And smaller planets like Mercury can't hold on to their atmosphere.

If Earth was just 1% closer to the Sun, it would be too hot. If it was just 5% farther than its basic position, it would freeze, like Mars.

If the force of gravity was just a little stronger, the universe would collapse, like a balloon, with the air sucked out of it. If it was slightly less, it would have drifted apart as gases instead of forming solids. If the force that held protons and electrons together were just a little weaker, hydrogen would not exist, and therefore water would not exist, and therefore life would not exist. How can all of this just accidentally come together?

Many scientists now believe that the 15-billion-year construction of the universe has had one goal: producing human life. Science is proving that the odds of human life being produced by chance are like winning the same 10-million-dollar lottery every week for the next year. That's a big win!

We are made out of one trillion cells. And all these cells work together. Some cells grow hair, some grow teeth. You have blood cells, heart muscle cells, liver cells, eye cells, and more. All of these cells are the result of one cell that was created before you were born. The DNA in this first cell contains every bit of information needed for your body to grow.

DNA is shaped like a spiral staircase. In a human, the DNA ladder in one cell contains three billion "rungs." Because of its shape, DNA is able to replicate itself perfectly. When a cell needs to make a copy of itself, the DNA "ladder" unzips down the middle to form two halves. The result is two exact copies of the original. That's how one cell can pass on the exact copy of its DNA to all trillion cells of a human.

Each different cell is able to specialize because it activates a different section of the DNA "ladder." These sections are called genes. Some genes trigger a cell to become hair cells. Other genes trigger a cell to become blood cells. And so on. In one way, this method is very simple. In another way, DNA is incredible. The information stored in the DNA of just one cell would fill the hard drives of a million computers.

Finally: consider a watch. How did it come to be? Did it come together by chance, or did someone make it? How do you know that? Were you there when they made it? Of course not! Still, we believe it, because we know that something so complex could not come together on its own.

The same can be said of the world we live in. Every day we go out, we see the trees, the grass, the flowers, but we don't consider that these things could not come into existence by themselves. And how could lifeless materials come to life? Based on the proof that we see around us we can come to only one logical conclusion: Somebody created it.

David and Stephanie Gross, with their three children, have recently begun their ministry in Hincesti, Moldova. David shares some experiences traveling on deputation and then getting to the field; Stephanie gives some first impressions as BIMI missionaries in a foreign land.

David: Many times while on deputation people would say to us, "I could never do what you are doing. It takes a special kind of person to be a missionary." We do not think that we are anyone special, but we have seen that God's grace is very special. Each stage that we have been through over the past four years, every challenge has been met with sufficient grace from God.

Preparing for deputation is much more than just throwing suitcases in the car and hitting the road. I had to "make the jump" from a full-time job to full-time deputation. The Lord provided a part-time job working for a godly man, which allowed me to call churches for meetings one or two days a week. By God's grace, we were on full-time deputation about four months later.

How did we spend two years traveling around in a minivan with two kids, living out of suitcases, and not quit? It was by God's grace. We had our times of wanting to give up, but overall, we were amazed at how God granted us contentment with that stage of our lives. He met every need of ours, allowed us to minister in churches, and gave us divine appointments to share the Gospel to people He brought across our path. Because we saw and experienced God's grace and faithfulness throughout deputation, we know that His grace will be sufficient during the difficult times we will experience on the field here in Moldova.

We have now been in Moldova for almost three months, still seeing God's grace and providential provisions. Through the help of another Baptist missionary family, God provided a nice little apartment for us to rent, an excellent language teacher, and our residence permits that allow us to stay in Moldova for our first year. Learning the Romanian language seems like a daunting task, but we know that God is enabling us. Stephanie is now able to shop on her own, and I taught my first Bible study in Romanian. It was not perfect Romanian, but it was still a neat milestone along the long path of language acquisition. Great is His faithfulness.

Stephanie:

WHEN THERE'S NO WALMART...

Proverbs 31:14, "She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar."

Thank the Lord, I don't have to go far to get my food. This is actually one of my favorite events of the week: going to the piata (market) and small, local grocery stores to get whatever I may need. It gives me a chance to practice my Romanian without depending on David to speak for me. So this is an answer to prayer also. Life is interesting when one cannot read half of what is on the box. Over here it may be written in Romanian, Russian, Polish, German, or another European language. Sometimes eight different languages appear.

IN A GOLDFISH BOWL...

Hincesti is a small town where "everyone knows everyone and everyone's business." Most of the residents had heard about us shortly after we arrived and even knew where we lived. Consequently, we are getting to know many people and making new friends.

Just last week I was glad that "everyone knows everyone" because my wallet was stolen in the grocery store. The manager and I watched the surveillance video for half an hour before we saw the culprit. To my relief, the manager said he knew her. I got my wallet back within two hours of losing it. Our God keeps watching out for us.

One day on my way home, I passed a Moldovan grandmother who smiled and greeted me in English. I learned that this lady, Ducia, lives in our apartment complex and she even invited us to dinner. She is a sweet widow and needs the Gospel. Please pray for Ducia's salvation and for us as we seek to share with her the message of peace with God through Christ.

Spain - We are thrilled to be back in the country we love. Twenty-eight years ago, we came to Spain and served fourteen years in the city of Alcala de Henares. Then the Lord gave us the opportunity to labor for eleven years in Venezuela where we established two new churches.

Even though we thought that we would never return, God had other plans. We get to work in a country that is filled with beautiful historical sites and wonderful people. Many changes have taken place in this country during our absence. Before, our biggest challenge was dealing with people who were strong Catholics. Even though Catholicism is still the biggest religion in Spain today, we are now dealing with people who are disillusioned with religion and have become atheists and agnostics. Humanism abounds. We also have seen a very strong Muslim community come into focus. Muslims are infiltrating Spain and bringing with them their Islamic religion. Along with the Muslim immigration, over the past few years there has been a wave of immigrants coming from Latin America and also from other European countries. The world has come to Spain and we are right in the middle of it. What a unique opportunity to reach people from all kinds of nationalities and religions!

Our desire is to reach souls for Christ in Parla, a city of 110,000 people, just twenty minutes south of downtown Madrid. The team working with us will be our son-in-law and daughter, Jeffrey and Deanna Andrews, as well as our son and daughter-in-law, David and Favianna Velasquez. One outreach we are using is a ten-minute DVD which we have produced with a short story of a man in a hole who couldn't get out. All kinds of people, representing different religions, pass by and offer suggestions as to how he can get out of the hole. At the end, Jesus Himself appears at the hole and climbs down to the man and lifts him out of the hole. Of course this illustration shows people that they are lost in sin and only Christ can forgive them of their sins and save them. After the illustration, we have a clear presentation of the Gospel and our website and phone numbers for contact. Our goal is to put one of these DVDs in every home in Parla. We have already passed out 8000 of the 50,000 we plan to distribute to share Christ with our city.

Recently we rented a storefront building, prepared it as a meeting place for church, and recently began Sunday morning services. We have many more plans to reach our city, such as giving English classes to make contacts, showing Gospel movies, putting up posters on billboards around the city, and possibly having a radio program. Finally, as we reach souls and Christ builds His church, we want to disciple new converts and train leaders to start more churches beyond Parla to reach more people for Christ. Please pray for our team here in Spain. Praise the Lord that there is religious freedom in this country and that we are still able to obtain religious visas. Pray that this door will remain open for many years. Pray for more laborers in the country of Spain.

AUSTRIA -Todd and Kim (language study in Germany) -I reached my first milestone when I preached my first message in the German language in a church in Austria.

Reta Burns. Katherine, a sweet, elderly Christian lady from the Church of England and a graduate from Oxford University, came to our Bible study. Since her first time, she has brought four different friends.

John Jones Family. A man, from a Catholic family who had never attended a church service before, and his wife came for a few weeks to hear the Gospel. He stopped me in the hallway after service and said, "John, I want to get saved today, right now!" He was saved and his wife soon after placed her faith in Christ.

Marcia Kittleson. God has blessed the ministry in Market Harborough. We have had new visitors to our Sunday evening services and they have continued to come regularly. Pam has been saved, as well as two of our teens.

Jack Moorman Family. In the South Kensington area of London, we gave out our Creation tract and John 1 and 3 to crowds leaving the Natural History Museum with the newly opened Darwin Center. Many people, including some of the Museum staff, took our material. Visitors came to our church as a result.

Glenn Palmer Family. Matthew is the grandson of Joan, one of our faithful ladies at a retirement home where we hold services. He asked his grandmother, "What is a born-again Christian?" After she told him to talk with me, Matthew understood his need of salvation. He asked God to forgive him and to save him.

Glenn Pizor Family. We are grateful that Martin Davids, a godly and gifted servant of Christ, received a unanimous vote by the church to work with me in the leadership as an associate lay pastor.

Mickey Schrimshire Family. When I preached recently at Leek Baptist Church, the building was nearly full. We are working to help them find a fulltime, national pastor. Also, please pray for our "Reaching Them" evangelistic ministries into festivals and flea markets in the middle of England.

Harry Stanley Family. (New BIMI missionaries to England, working with John and Mary Anne Jones) Please pray for Harry, Gina, and their four children as they settle in their new ministry. We have been to over 1200 doors so far with Gospel tracts here in Congleton.

ESTONIA -Bob Gilley Family. God has given us a good group of children in the church and we have begun to expand our kids' ministries. We have had visitors to our church from 20 different nations.

Rob Willoughby Family. (Please pray for Rob and Angela as they study the Estonian and Russian languages to minister in this needy country. ) I was invited by an Estonian pastor to give my testimony about my call into missions. This was a big step for me, because I gave it all in Estonian.

Ron Winkler Family. God has placed us in the small town of Toila, about 45 minutes from the Russian border. We are also within a twenty-minute drive of five Russian cities that need the gospel. We are praising the Lord for providing a place to begin holding services.

FRANCE - Carey Abbett Family. We had our family camp that reunites three churches for five days. This summer's camp will be held for three weeks in the south of France.

Bob Huffman Family. It is so rewarding to see Christians that we have nurtured for years take on the responsibilities of teaching, preaching, and reaching out to others. Marcel and I visited a woman who is nearly blind. After we shared God's love with her, she made a profession of faith and has been coming to our Bible study.

GERMANY - Dan Dubbe Family. We have served for eighteen years on the field of Germany and are looking for a new outreach in neighboring towns. During the last Lord's Supper at our church here in Bischofsheim, as the deacons passed out the elements, I was blessed to see the men I had led to the Lord now as faithful believers ministering in the assembly!

Walter Hornung Family. In the past few months, we thank the Lord that eight people received Christ as their Savior. Two of our girls in Children's Church, Leonie and Ivana, saved enough of their own money to buy a Bible for a classmate.

Rodney Kidd Family. On Rod's birthday, we had the joy of baptizing six people - five adults and one teen. We also had 45 ladies who attended our ladies' dinner - and at least half the attendance were guests!

HUNGARY - Marc Patton Family. We had more than 200 for our annual conference on Missions and Evangelism from 25 different churches. Also, our young people from Esztergom provided special music at a evangelistic service in Tata. Over seventy people were in attendance, with at least thirty of those visitors.

MOLDOVA - David Gross Family - newly arrived in Moldova as church planters with BIMI. Please pray for David, Stephanie and their children as they begin ministry there.

Keith Herndon Family. I recently accepted the responsibility of co-pastor at the church in Vatici. We have added Sunday school for children, Saturday youth, and Sunday evening services. God has blessed us with 21 full-time students in our Bible School.

NORTHERN IRELAND - Ed Bissett Family. We had a very good Holiday Bible Club (Vacation Bible School) with twenty-five children. Because of this, several of the children are now coming on Sundays.

NORWAY- Our church had our International Dinner with a total of 37 people from many different countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. One lady raised her hand saying she wanted to be saved. We recently had the highest attendance in our services of 39 people.

POLAND - Darrell Johnson Family. We had fourteen ladies at our tea and four of these came for the first time. God blessed in a miraculous way by bringing our landlord's wife to the meeting. This was her first time hearing the Gospel so clearly.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND - Dan Canavan Family. We are so encouraged that the members of our Hope Baptist Church see this church as their own. They are helping in the finances, nursery, Sunday School, and even cleaning the church. Pray as we seek larger facilities.

***(Ferrell and Barbara Kearney filled in for Canavans at Hope Baptist Church) We had people from ten different nations. Behold, how they love the Lord and one another.

Stephen Finley Family. We have seen vast growth in our folks in the past year. Tina and Girts followed the Lord in believer's baptism. Fummi brought a Pakistani lady (a Muslim) to our service. Also we were granted another one-year extension, so we can stay in Ireland until May l, 2011!

Justin Hayes Family. I had the privilege of leading my first man on the mission field to the Lord. Mac, who had attended church for six months, accepted Christ as his Savior when I visited him at his home. Four weeks later I baptized Mac and his wife Cynthia in the Irish Sea.

Don Thatcher Family. I received an invitation from the Student Union at the Waterford Institute of Technology to speak to the students on Mark's gospel. Pray for an open door to reach these young people. We also had a first-time Lithuanian couple visit our services as a result of a Christmas gift Lisa gave them.

Bob Zemeski Family. We are glad to report that two people have made a profession of faith; both have been baptized and added to the church. Sadie had come to church with her dad, heard a message on Joshua, and accepted Christ. Paul, an Irish sheep farmer, was saved; we had witnessed to him for fourteen years!

ROMANIA - Tom Gentry Family. In a Gypsy village where we held evangelistic meetings, Ovidiu, pastor of the church in Sarata, has been following up. The Lord blessed and a few weeks ago ten were baptized. One of our Bible Institute students, Nicu, will graduate in the spring and believes God is calling him to Malawi.

Ed Hembree Family. Please pray for the new church plant in Blaj. Sergiu Sidor, a member of our church, and Vasile Corniciuc, a graduate of our college, have joined together to begin this work. Our very great blessing in September was little Beki (eight years old) in our children's home trusting Christ as her Savior.

Brian Nibbe Family. We have seen an increase in the church through the efforts of our church members. Raul Giura was saved and through him we have seen many visitors saved and baptized. I started a young couple's class in Sunday school and we have seen one family saved because of it.

Tim Tyler Family. We just celebrated the 4th anniversary of Timisoara Independent Baptist church. There were 66 in attendance. We recently had eighteen people at a teen retreat in our home.

RUSSIA - Duane Hearron Family. Even though I am not teaching English presently in our village school and two others in Krasnoyarsk, several students are attending our services. We are grateful that one girl, Vlada, accepted Christ.

Konstantin Kamilchu Family. Igor, a man heavily involved in eastern religions, let us meet with his whole family. We have invited them into our home and met with them in the city, witnessing to them again. Mr. O., Igor and I are meeting every week together to study the Word.

Don Ossewaarde Family. After Victor heard that his friend Irina was baptized this summer, he began attending our church. At a Wednesday night service, he said that he would probably get saved on Sunday. I told him he could get saved "right now." I took the time to review the plan of salvation and he stood and prayed to receive Christ before we sang our second song!

David Sterling Family. Recently a few of the older girls asked if they could speak to Dee Dee after craft time. One of them, Marina, said she knew she was ready to be saved. She and I talked, read some verses, and Marina prayed in her own words to ask Jesus into her heart.

Adam Young Family. Nina and Lyudmilla are sisters who are studying the Bible with me every week through our discipleship program. Nina had received a Bible from me as I passed them out in the center of town.

SCOTLAND - Arvin Devers Family. A young man, Liam, was saved recently and a young woman came to attend our services after receiving one of our leaflets through her door. Fifty-two people came to our Christmas program and banquet - the biggest crowd we have ever had in twenty years in Scotland! Forty of the guests are from our neighborhood.

Lea Devers. I am thrilled to share the good news of three teenagers who prayed to be saved. We are continuing to hold Bible studies in the area villages. Please pray for this outreach.

Graham Forbes Family. (A new church plant in the Highlands). A couple of weeks ago we had some sign-up sheets for those wanting to get involved in the ministry. Everybody...100%...committed to getting involved. We even have enough people to run an AWANA club. The local schools have even invited us to promote our AWANA program in their assemblies.

Dennis Snelson Family. We can announce that 22,000 tracts have passed through the hands of the members of Houston Baptist Church. Also, our faith promise giving was increased by an incredible 50% over last year.

SPAIN - Julio Velasquez family. We recently met Isabel, who had been traveling two hours to church. She was so excited that we are starting a church in Parla, near where she lives. Last week she attended a family camp and accepted Christ.

UKRAINE - Robert Fuller. The church in Yevpatoria recently celebrated our first year anniversary. We have had thirteen saved and five baptized since starting the work.

Tony Hess Family. After six months of explaining the way of salvation to residents in our local nursing home, Nadeshda cried out, "What do I need to do in order to get my name written in the Lamb's Book of Life?" Dawn was able to show this 86-year-old lady how to be saved.

Matthew Hudson Family. My wife and I were recently able to lead a man to the Lord while out soul winning. Makar Grigoriyvich was an atheist for many years. A lady in our church had faithfully prayed for him.

Daniel Irvin Family. We have given out almost all of the 10,000 gospels of John and Romans. I was able to witness to three people who readily received them and promised to read them,

Polly Irvin. Polly arrived in Ukraine, December 7, 2009, and will be studying the Ukrainian language in Odessa. She can already speak Russian.

John Spillman Family. They have just returned to the Ukraine to continue the work in Odessa. Pray as they help with a church plant there.

Bob Van Sant Family. On Friday night of Deaf Camp, Pastor Slava preached about Jesus' death on the cross. Thirty teens came forward after the message and accepted Christ. Two Muslim girls and one of the mothers who came with the group were also saved. A first: Our church choir performed our first Christmas cantata - in Russian led by missionary Tony Hess!

Thank you for giving to the Bible fund. A letter from Russia expresses what your support has helped us to do:

"Brother Martti wants to thank you very much for those 10, 000 New Testaments which were given to Siberian brothers! The books were delivered to several towns, from which the evangelists take them to villages such as Kazinskoe and Lesosibirsk. Sunday school teachers are also happy to get material. Thank you again for all help to sow God's Word in Russia!"
